Description

Classic crumbly shortbread

Serves:
Ingredients
  • 250g Butter
  • 1/2cup castor sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • 2 cups plain flour
  • 1/2 rice flour
  • 1 tablespoon castor sugar,dusting
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven at 160 degrees, 140 degrees Celcius for fan forced ovens
  2. IN a bowl combine sugar butter and vanilla and beat with an electric beater till light and creamy
  3. Sift in flour and mix together till well combined
  4. Seperate into 2 equal portions
  5. LIne 2 square baking trays with greaseproof paper
  6. place a portion of dough in each tray and flattern
  7. Prick with fork and sprinkle with sugar to decorate (optional)
  8. Bake in oven for 35minutes or until pale golden brown
  9. Place on rack to cool. REmove from tray and cut into slices to serve

This can be stored in an airtight container for a week
